The original MTB group continues its legacy of remaining the standard for mountain bikers everywhere. Nearly three decades in, the Deore XT brand is defined by its trail-tested durability, reliability and performance. As mountain biking becomes faster and faster and the terrain even more technical, the M8100 series aims to give the rider the necessary feeling of confidence and safety.
Following the principle of passing on the experiences and technologies of the top series, the Deore XT incorporates the innovations of the high-end XTR components.
Accordingly the new 12-speed groupset features of course Micro Spline and Hyperglide+.
Shimano Deore XT CN-M8100 chain
The Deore XT chain has been optimized from the ground up and is an integral part of the new 12-speed drivetrain. With its high precision formed contact surfaces to Dynamic Chain Engagement+ chainring andHyperglide+ cassette teeth, the Shimano Deore XT CN-M8100 chain provides fast, precise and smooth shifting in both directions even under highest loads. Chrome-plated inner plates increase the durability noticeably.

SHIMANO Deore XT | Ultegra chain CN-M8100 12-speed | 116 links with chain lock
The CN-M8100 chain is specially designed for the XT M8100 and Ultegra 8100 chainrings and cassettes. The chain harmonises perfectly with the Dynamic Chain Engagement+ (DCE+) Narrow-Wide tooth profiles of the new Deore XT chainrings thanks to the millings on the inside of the link plates.
The design results in a tighter fit of the chain on the teeth. Vibrations are avoided and the smoother running of the chain is not only noticeable when pedaling, but is also expressed acoustically through a quieter drive.
Thanks to a new chromed surface in combination with the proven SIL-TEC coating, the service life of the chain could be kept at the level of the M8000 chain, despite the smaller outer width.
NOTE: The CN-M8100 chain is recommended by Shimano for use with Deore XT M8100 12-speed and Ultegra 12-speed drivetrains only.
